Don't get me wrong. Walking on water would be cool, but it's not in the cards for most of us. I can barely even swim.
People are cool. We have this capacity for abstract thought and creative problem-solving that nothing else (that we know of) has. I don't care how smart an animal is. None of them come close to what humans can do.
I heard someone on TV talking about how much we can learn from dogs because they live in the moment and are always loyal and things like that. That's neat and all, but they also can’t drive a car and they eat their own poop. It's fun and pithy to say we should be more like dogs, but it doesn't carry any water when you think it through.
That's what we're talking about today – there are a bunch of ideas out there that sound cool but aren't that helpful in real life. The rise of influencers and Insta-therapy has made this worse because it's easier to sell shiny ideas than real solutions.
