I don’t know why, but I had a tough time getting this to place a where I was comfortable posting it. It’s more difficult to write about these deeper character traits than it was writing about things like making your bed every morning and learning to meditate. It feels like there’s more skin in the game when we are talking about who we are instead of what we do.
We’re going to take a more serious look at cultivating dignity and integrity in our lives. It feels old-fashioned to be talking about this stuff, but it's important. There is an almost complete absence of dignity and integrity permeating our culture right now. It concerns me both in the consequences it brings to individuals and the consequences it can bring to us as a whole.
Our quick-fix-top-ten-list-culture is suffocating us when it comes to the things that really matter. The most important things any of us can do require time and effort. They require energy, intention, and struggle. The deep things in life do not come easy. No life hack can make things better if you aren't concerned with who you are every single day.
