Excuse Your Excuses

"Excuse" has a few meanings. It can mean an attempt to lessen or dismiss blame, or it can be used to dismiss someone. Here are two examples:

"I'm not trying to make excuses, but I didn't know a firecracker could actually destroy a toilet."

"Yes, you may be excused. Next time it shouldn't take you 4 hours to eat your broccoli."

We will talk about both, but I think the second definition is more important.
