We all kind of know that New Year's resolutions don't work. 23% are abandoned in the first week, and 64% by the end of the month. The overall failure rate is somewhere around 92%.
I don't actually know anyone who still makes resolutions, now that I think about it.
It's probably one of those things that we’ve tried and failed at so many times that we burned ourselves out on doing them at all.
This is a bummer because there's a lot of good in being intentional about how you start the year. I know cynical people say it’s corny, but rituals and routines are important to us as a species.
I don't think the problem is with making resolutions; it's the fact that we make them without any kind of realplan or accountability. Anything we try to do is doomed to failure without those two things.
This all inspired me to create my Real Resolutions program. It's a time-bound, targeted coaching program meant to help you set a useful resolution and make a plan to carry it out. It’s also paired with a month of accountability to help turn this into a habit that sticks with you.
I'm excited about this program because I think it has the power to set you up for success in 2025.
We will define your resolution in a way that is actionable and achievable.
We will make a plan to maintain and increase the habits that are contributing to you achieving it and to decrease and stop the habits that are hurting your chances to achieve it.
We will follow all of this up with text and e-mail accountability for a month to lock it into place (I’m not going to be strict about starting on January 1st and ending by February 1st – real life doesn’t follow the calendar).
If you've read my newsletter for very long you know that I'm not a hard sell person and that I don't try to create a false sense of urgency to get you to make a decision, so I'm being honest when I say that I'm limiting this to a certain number of people because I want to make sure that I can dedicate the time and energy needed to help you achieve your goal.
The program is $250. This includes an initial one-on-one session (either in person or virtual) to establish your resolution and create the plan to make it happen and the text and e-mail support and accountability for the month. I will also offer more one-on-one sessions at a discounted rate if you need them as part of the program.
I think this could be fun and could really help people start the year off right.
